Listen to "Hazel" by Weekend

Weekend - Hazel by Slumberland Records

Since their LP release "Sports", Weekend has slowly be gaining a larger fanbase, and expectations for this lo-fi band has been quite high since then. Not a big shoe gaze guy myself, "Sports" has never really clicked quite for me. I mean, there were a lot of good songs that I enjoyed, but in total treatment of atmosphere or anything else, its always seemed a bit boring.

Not this time however. Where as "Sports" had a more modern feel to it, this song is all from the 80s, and the clarity, which was lacking from their earlier lo-fi days, is much more prominent. Like many of the Slumberland bands, these guys retain a lot of the attributes that make the style, such as the rapid jangly guitars, as well as the soft repetitive drums, and the whale noises hidden everywhere.

This track is definitely worth a listen if you're into the softer pop-ier side of lo-fi, and highly recommended for fans of the older british indie stuff. Thanks to One Thirty BPM for the share.
