Florence and the Machine - Dog Days are Over
Pandora never fails to please me.
If this song seems familiar to you, it may be because you might have heard it while watching Glee. I would link you to the youtube page of their cover, but it's just not as good. While the original singer sounds passionate and pained, the cover can only be defined by stale words like "pale comparison" and "younger demographic" which make the whole song sound cheaper, and more contrived.
Take the bass drums for instance. The original just pumps with energy, and I can hardly sit here and write this while the drums just keep pushing through with so much vigor. And instead of keeping that for the Glee Cover, they decided on: group clapping. Don't get me wrong, I love clapping, but clapping instead of the drums? No way.
This is just a pure joy for adrenaline sake: A repeating chorus that goes on and one, pounding drums that push it continuously, and even a light ukulele sprinkled on top for good affect, it's not surprising that this indie pop hit was put on Glee.
